In 2003, The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (”.YU”) was superceded by a different form of union between the states of Serbia and Montenegro. The countries declared their independence in June 2006. According to this report by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) in December 2006, the Government of Montenegro submitted an application for the “.ME” domain. This was followed by the applications for the delegations of the “.RS” domain to the Republic of Serbia.
In September, I made an announcement about the launch of Montenegro’s “.ME” domain and it’s possibility of being a great branding opportunity. Recently there have been some updates which may lead “.ME” to be obsolete for international domainers.

Thousands of words end in “RS”
If you take a moment to think about it, “rs” is one of the most common two-character word endings. Here is a list of 4000 words ending with RS. This list is less than half of all English words ending with RS. I personally wouldn’t mind owning “Domaine.rs” or “Develope.rs!” While I am not a big fan of using hacks for large projects due to branding and usability issues, they could be great fun names for personal blogs or unique applications.
