Most Popular Domain Sales Categories

I present to you a slice of insight into the mind of what domain buyers want! As reported here on the AfternicDLS blog, here are the Top 10 most searched categories for domain names. Ranked by page views on Afternic, BuyDomains and NameMedia over the last 90 days.

  1. Acronyms
  2. Business
  3. Words & Phrases
  4. Real Estate
  5. Entertainment & Leisure
  6. Health
  7. Non-English
  8. Advertising, Sales & Marketing
  9. Technology
  10. Internet

Note: The “Acronyms” category includes 2, 3 and 4 character domains.

I am not surprised to see the acronyms in the top spot with the recent news that all LLLL.com domains have been registered. My portfolio contains a good amount of internet and technology related names, so I am happy that those categories made the top 10.

Overall, this list is a good reference guide for pricing domains and making buying or selling decisions.
