People throw the term around loosely, but what does customer service REALLY mean? Here’s a list of practices I feel make up good customer service:
1. COMMUNICATE: If someone sends you an email, leaves you a voice mail, etc., email or call them back as quickly as possible. Yes, even if that means a call or email saying that you got the person’s call or email and when you will be putting your attention to it. People like to know their messages aren’t getting lost.
2. UPDATE: If there’s an ongoing situation that may take several days to resolve, keep an open line of communication with the customer and keep them updated. Knowledge is power, and lack of knowing what is going on with their issue will make a customer feel worthless in your eyes.
